Service needs to restarted since its stops working after sometime
This happens on both nougat AOSP & MIUI 9. Please asap.
What device?
thanks for your bugreport.. which device are u using?
is it a tablet? I think the recognition for default orientation is not working properly in tablets and therefore the corner in which the icon is displayed might be wrong.. sorry for that, but:
Please asap.
.. no! No offence, but this is spare-time project for many of us and we're not here to fix your bugs.. Of course we try to provide you with a good user experience, but its on a best-effort basis..
The Mi A1 running stock AOSP & Redmi Note 3 running AOSPExtended & rest all(Mi Max 1 & 2, Redmi 3s prime, Redmi Note 4x, Redmi 4x) running MIUI 9.

Same thing happens on my stock T-mobile Samsung Galaxy Note 4--eg, after installing TapnTurn and having it work right, then soon later in portrait orientation, with notificaton screen indicating that TapnTurn is running and activated, when i turn the phone to landscape orientation, the TapnTurn circular arrow doesnt appear like it should, and the display doesnt re-orientate to landscape tho it should. If i then deactivate TapnTurn from the notification screen, the display immediately turns to reflect the phone's landscape orientation. If i then re-activate TapnTurn from the notification screen, TapnTurn works as expected (for a while). I will take screenshots of my TapnTurn settings now in case anyone wants to view them (i dunno how to post images here at Github).
Hey @veeraragavan-n @briflan2 .. i found some time to look into it again. While I found a possible regression that will be fixed in the next version, the problem of xiaomi/samsung/huawei devices might be more difficult to solve. It seems these phones (at least in their official software) have task managers implemented that almost give no chance to me to solve your issue...
Can u both please check the first answer here: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/41277671/clear-recent-apps-wipe-the-apps-memory-and-my-receiver-stopped-working/41360159
Maybe you can somehow whitelist TnT?! -> If it works we could add some documentation for that...
On my Pixel 1 with Android 9.1, the service stops within 1 or 2 minutes with Battery save mode active. I receive a notification on the bottom of the screen the service has stopped :( how can I create a log file to figure out the cause? I wish the service was just 100% persistent. In my Android Settings > Apps & Permissions > TapAndTurn it says the app is allowed to run in background.
With battery save mode disabled, the service keeps running longer but since Google introduced adaptive battery optimisation, it could still get killed.
Perhaps Android 9 has a new permission to allow apps to always stay active?
Tap and turn is so good that it's function has been integrated into Android pie now.
@joeandjoe I don't see it on AOSP so yeah...I still need this
@joeandjoe I don't see it on AOSP so yeah...I still need this You have to enable "Swipe up on Home button". This will remove third button from the navigation bar and instead the rotate button will be shown there, if you disable auto rotation.
@brezelman The "disable autarotate" was the key (as oposed to TapnTurn lol), indeed it appears. Thanks
But... I like to enjoy the content on my screen, so my UI is small, hence that icon is too small, at least for me, I can barely target it.
So, yeah nice, but hope @gabm can fix his app. ;)
/PS: Also switching to gestures controls (hidden navbar) means no more Pie control.
I'm afraid i dont really have time... maybe anyone could step in? any help would be greatly appreciated
