Audit Test Suite for this package

Follow-on from #125.

This is a bit expansive, but the state of testing on this project should be sort audited.

To-do:

• Come up with overview of what should be tested given how the project is set up now
• Compare what is already built with this vision
• Add or remove tests to get it closer in line
• Suggest follow-up ticket(s) as necessary to get more testing. (i.e. test Coverage)
