Firebase data is received in iOS simulator and some devices, but NOT on others ?

hi, another seeming showstopper.

Has anyone seen this issue, where the Firestack (Firebase) iOS lib runs perfectly fine on simulator and fine on some iOS devices, but receives no data at all on other iOS (real) devices ?
