Get version 4.0.4 into Homebrew

Open fulldecent opened this issue 7 months ago • 1 comments

The build instructions have changed from 4.0.3 to 4.0.4. See #51.

And the new build is not accepted in brew.

See: https://github.com/Homebrew/homebrew-cask/actions/runs/14981212133/job/42085580794

We will need to change the brew submission insructions to make this work somehow.

Has it been resolved? Because I saw: https://github.com/Homebrew/homebrew-cask/pull/212041/commits/2812f5af642c1c2b2330b745fef8d5e30c6fcefb and https://github.com/Homebrew/homebrew-cask/actions/runs/14981976668

Version 4.0.4 had installed in my case. However, Homebrew says that CoreLocationCLI was

[d]eprecated because it does not pass the macOS Gatekeeper check! It will be disabled on 2026-09-01.

As stated earlier, due to Apple's security porn, it needs to be wrapped into an application bundle. An example would be the wrapper app for unredacting the WiFi SSID and BSSID; see wifi-unredactor. However, the same applies there as in the case of CoreLocationCLI: it seems like it will need a code signature, at least on many systems, potentially on all Apple Silicon Macs. Maybe an ad-hoc signature would suffice, applied as the last step at the end of the cask installation… and maybe that will reverse Homebrew's decision to disable it next year.
