Did you try just changing your format line?
Not using the AST, but after solidity compiles it the nat spec comes through to the compiler output. I documented this at https://docs.soliditylang.org/en/latest/natspec-format.html
I see that the settings preference in System Settings has moved to a different name and I updated this in the README for now.
