Evaluate the usage of CernVM-FS

CernVM-FSCernVM-FS could be useful to distribute software - in contrast to a conventional network filesystem it caches aggressively.

This is really interesting, I'd use something other than squid for the caching server though. I tried to use it once and it was a total pain in the a*s to setup and manage. There has to be something better and more modern out there.

The other issue to think about is that having a proxy server does also add some complexity to the system... another point of failure.

I am as well not a big Squid fan boy. I think for the evaluation a HTTP caching proxy is not necessary. If it is necessary for a scaling production environment this decision should be based on identifying bottlenecks or room for improvement with more benefits than trade-offs.
