First minor release?

Since #72 landed and we now are python 3.6+ support and working CI, we should probably at least make a new minor release?

TODO:

  • [ ] unreleased changelog section update:
    • [ ] change comments from #72
    • [ ] mention move to GH actions
  • [ ] stage the minor version with a .rc ?
  • [ ] build an sdist and push to pypi
