Hmm, I do see one issue with documenting this in the official docs though: We may reassign indices in the future, causing conflicts with additional mesh interface specifications. It might be better to describe this in the Wiki as an "unsupported" feature instead.

I really see the need for this feature as official supported in some day-to-day-deployments.
With indices, the index used for generating the MAC is meant? I'd suggest to leave this part offical, state that only indices from unused features should be used, and discuss a possible expansion of the indices in another issue?
