install raspbmc do not set up music connect with remote and click Music popup "NullPointerException"

Get this error message on Moto G smart phone when clicking on music. Xbmc is installed on Asustor NAS 202TE.

Same here. After closing the dialog, I see a spinning icon and "Loading...". Nothing seems to happen for a very long time (several minutes & never finishes). Also related, if I try to update album covers from the main screen, XBMC remote quits.

To work around the issue, simply scan some music to your Library. After that, this error no longer appears, "Loading..." completes successfully, and updating album covers works.
