[feature] Install from ports
It would be nice to incorporate the ability to use pkg to install from ports.
There is already a lot of overlap between portmaster/Portupgrade and pkg, with most of the hard work -- dependency and library tracking and management -- already part of pkg. Adding a switch to use ports would be a nice addition and save the need for an additional program.
This would partly solve some related issues like #580 #622 and is somewhat related to #239 #224
this idea has been there for years, pkg has a pluggable repository formats so theorically it is doable to consider the ports tree as yet another repository where pkg install will request for a build, yet noone has been volunteering to do it, and I clearly don't have time for this, I will close this ticket to clarif that no this is not something that is currently planned by pkg developers, yes it is doable, and if someone want to provide the feature it will be considered.
We have this in our TODO to allows users to install packages restricted by its license. I will get back with an RFC when we get to it.
