option to open all unread notifications at once in separate tabs

Open tooomm opened this issue 6 years ago • 9 comments

Instead having to open all single notifications one by one it would be very very handy to have an option to open all displayed notifications in the add-on pop-up at once. Each in a separate new tab just by clicking one button.

Would you be willing to trade in the footer for that?

What do you mean?

Replace the "Show All Notifications" button with an "Open All Notifications" button. (What exactly that button does is already configurable in the settings)

So you are saying there is only one button possible? Or why would you want/need to trade it in? Above/Below there can't be a second one? Or even next to it?

I was asking if you were willing to do that. I am not saying that's necessarily the UI solution here. If it is not, it will have to wait for a bigger UI overhaul though.

Oh, I'm sorry... that was my question in the first place. Didn't got your first comment. I can't help with coding. :(

Ah, I'm sorry, I think I formulated this ambiguously. I wasn't asking you to implement it, but if you would want to use this like alongside a footer action or instead of.

To be able to go to the GitHub notification page somehow is also a nice feature, not as often used maybe... but it should exist. But I also miss a quick possibility to go to the settings of the add-on. Like having two icons somewhere - a cogwheel for settings and another one to go to github notifications page... you might want to consider that in a "bigger UI overhaul", too? ;)

While the footer button at the bottom of the list could open the related issues/pr's then.

But to be honest, mark all as read and such a open all notifications buttons might better fit at the top/above the list. Think about a lot of notifications, like 20 or even 50. One would have to scroll all to the end to discard or open them.

Regarding your question.

Replace the "Show All Notifications" button with an "Open All Notifications" button

Speaking about myself, I would use and benefit from a open all option more than go to github notification overview right now. I mostly never need to go there, maybe that's just my usecase though.

Edit: Realized that one can change the behavior for that button already. So having a new open all option there would be great! :)

There might have been a misunderstanding here as there is a Open all notification option in settings possible already. But it opens the list of all notifications (https://github.com/notifications) instead all issues/pr's in their own tabs...

I updated the starting post and issue title for clarification!
