Storage add-ons for shared hosting.
"Storage is cheap" - @adityahase
Anecdotally this has been a source of churn.
CFBR 😄
It will be database storage add-on btw. Actual "storage" is usually unused ...
DB "storage" is way more expensive (it is proportional to memory as well) - maybe differential rates? My use case was for files.
edit: reference for SalesForce https://driveconnect.me/blog/understanding-salesforce-data-and-file-storage/
Yeah, rates can be different but DB add ons have been requested by users more than files in my observation.
We had a case like this, for files storage. One customer was on a 50 USD plan/m, they then started having their field team take photos, and upload on the system as confirmation of field installations. Before long, they were on 100 USD/m, and in no time on 200 USD plan/m. These costs, we passed back to the customer, with clear screen shots of the FC invoices. After several meetings with them, on how to curb the doubling costs, we had to get a FC dedicated server, and move other customers on the dedicated server for cost effectiveness.
Other than one customer, all our other 30+ sites, could comfortably be on shared hosting, just that extra storage needs on shared hosting, leads to doubling of monthly plans very fast.
