"no document formatter" error when editing files with GistPad

Was trying out a new (to me) extension GistPad and found that neither shift+option+f nor shift+command+p worked anymore on a file in my repository. I re-opened the file as i would normally with VS Code was able to format just fine.

Perhaps this is expected due to the technical implementation of GistPad... and if so, that's fine, just wanted some clarification on this front.
