Firetray freezes Thunderbird/Icedove after suspend

Open gaubitzer opened this issue 10 years ago • 9 comments

Since a few days Thunderbird freezes after resuming from a suspend. I tracked it down to the FireTray Addon, no other addon I tested shows this behavior. I tried it after installing without restart, this works, after restart when the addon runs, freezing reproducibly occurs after resume.

I am using Debian Jessy (8.0) and KDE 4.14. kdebase-runtime 4.14.2-2 icedove 31.3.0-1 Linux ivy 3.16.0-4-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 3.16.7-2 (2014-11-06) x86_64 GNU/Linux

Thanks Erwin

I can confirm that on Crunchbang (Debian Wheezy, kernel 3.2)

Same here on Archlinux with Xfce 4.12 and Thunderbird.

Confirmed on Debian Sid with Icedove 31.6 and Awesome WM - had to disable the addon entirely. :-(

Hi all, can someone try to track down what version/commit of FireTray or Thunderbird (TB) brought this ? I'd suggest to start with TB, and if TB is not in cause, then git bisect on FireTray. I won't be able to do it myself as I can't reproduce the problem.

After removing libappindicator-gtk{2,3} and libindicator-gtk{2,3}, firetray works again.

@danbruegge thanks! :-) :-)

I confirm that this fixed the issue for me. I had (on Debian) a package gtk-redshift installed which in turn pulled in gir1.2-appindicator3-0.1 and libappindicator3-1.

After removing these packages the problem appears to have gone away.

I confirm that removing libappindicator3-1 and libindicator3-7 resolved this issue on Debian Testing, but removing this packages is not an option for me.

I'm encountering this problem (freeze after suspend) with Tbird 38.3.0 on Linux Mint 17.1 (did not have it with earlier versions of Tbird). I have libappindicator3-1 installed, but the list of reverse dependencies (apt-rdepends --reverse libappindicator3-1) is rather intimidating, so I'm not about to remove it. I'll have to disable Firetray pending resolution.

Same problem here with Thunderbird 38.3.0 and Linux Mint 17.2
