Feature request: Support environment variables

Open mjablecnik opened this issue 2 years ago • 4 comments

Tell us about the task you want to perform and are unable to do so because the feature is not available I have various environment APIs (local, production, test,..) for every my project. I don't want to write same things for more endpoints and then change it during change testing environments.

Describe the solution/feature you'd like us to add I am using global environment variables in Postman.

Hi @mjablecnik, Thank you for this new feature request. We will definitely work on adding global environment variables support and update our progress on this issue thread.

Hi @MihirCharan42, Firstly, join our discord server so that you can message on the #foss channel whenever you encounter any issue. That is also our official channel where we have all discussions related to API Dash & GSSoC. You must also follow the Contribution Guidelines. We currently do not assign an issue to a single person, as it might deter others from solving the issue with a better approach. Once you have a working implementation, feel free to send across a PR so that we can review the code.

I was thinking about opening new issue but i'll hook onto this one. One thing that's also missing is ability to use another request for the authentication source, like a basic token aka sending request and extracting the token from the response.

And that for entire environment

Hi @Michal-Szczepaniak Thanks for the feedback. We call this feature as "Request Chaining" and it is on our roadmap. Thanks.

Awesome that, and sending files as attachments is literally the only thing stopping me from using and holy heck i'm excited because this is THE SINGLE non-website client i've found

Michal-Szczepaniak avatar May 22 '24 20:05 Michal-Szczepaniak

@Michal-Szczepaniak Will definitely work on it 👍
