Conflict with built in plugin Emmet

Whenever I try to use Emmet abbreviations with this plugin enabled, I end up with an extra unmatched tag. For example, typing "div>p>a" I end up with:

Would it be possible to create a setting so that tags are auto closed only if accompanied by an opening bracket?
