Form Tools 3.0.20 - Submission does not send email if name fields include accents / umlauts.

Form Tools 3.0.20 - We have discovered that our customer enquiry form (created with Form Builder) on our German website does not send an email when a submission is made, if the name (first name / surname in 2 fields) contains an accent (eg: ö/ä/ü but also é). It does not seem to matter if there are such accents in other fields (eg. town). If we edit the submission to remove the character/accent from the name, then the email will be sent. Is this a known issue that others in Germany or elsewhere have come across and is there a simple fix?

UPDATE: I have switched to using the Swift Mailer module (instead of the inbuilt PHP) to send emails on submission of the form and this appears to have resolved the issue. Submissions which include letters with an accent in the name fields are now forwarded along with the others.
