Text cursor and keyboard selection in Annotate mode

It would be nice to have a text cursor in the annotate pane, which could be moved around using the keyboard (cursor keys, CTRL+cursor keys for moving to the next word, home, end, PgUp, PgDn) and allow selecting text (shift + keypresses) for tagging.
