Custom brightness not applied to settings screens

Right now, the brightness set in the app only applies to the reading screen, not to all other screens in the app. This is very inconvenient both when reading in the dark, when the settings screen / library opens with a dazzling light, and outdoors, when the system brightness is much lower than the brightness set for reading.

This is still an issue in 8.9.20-fdroid.

I actually have the opposite problem, where I don’t want the custom brightness applied to the library screen. Often I was reading at night, so the brightness is negative, but then I open the app in daylight and the library screen is too dark to use. Since the brightness can’t be adjusted with a gesture from the library screen, I just have to open a random book, raise the brightness, then close the book.

Either of these would help:

  1. Apply custom brightness to all screens, but also support adjusting custom brightess with slide gesture on all screens.

  2. Option to use custom brightness only for reading. My device already auto adjusts the system brightness based on ambient light, and that’s fine for the library and settings screens, I just want it darker when reading.
