Maybe this project can build something similar to LibreOffice document recovery.

~~Looks like a duplicate of https://github.com/flxzt/rnote/issues/229 to me.~~

Not entirely, crash recovery and draft autosaving is slightly different. We could think about using tmp or some other default dir to autosave drafts like tmp/draft-{uuid}.rnote And display a dialog when the app finds those files on startup

I think this should be rather easy to implement. You can assign me.

Please add this feature. You are so close to finally provide a One Note experience on Linux.

The usual workflow is

  • Press global hotkey to open new draft
  • Dump whatever you currently have that you want to keep in there, be it a screenshot or text.
  • Continue with what you are working on

I don't want to have to press a save button and it needs to survive a system crash

Saving in /tmp is not a good idea as it gets wiped by the system now and then. Better is to specify a draft directory
