Update on save from different machine
Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
I am frequently in the scenario where I have files synced with Dropbox that I have to work on from multiple machines. It would be nice to see the edits made on pc1 appear on pc2 by refreshing the file.
Describe the solution you'd like
Something like what happens for pdf annotation. Say that you are annotating a pdf with Edge on pc1 and that the pdf is open with Okular on pc2. If pc1 saves the file, okular on pc2 refreshes the pdf and the edits made on pc1 are seen almost instantly on pc2.
Describe alternatives you've considered
Well the only workaround I found is the obvious one where you close and reopen the file.
Small question: Do you see a "Opened file was modified on disk" popup on pc2 when updating it from pc1? Because in that case the 'reload' function is here so we could go from a manual reload to an (optional) automatic reload
Apologies if I answer from a different account, I used the other one by mistake.
Two interesting behaviors happen on pc2 (the non-editing one):
- I see a "the open file as been removed" popup just above the bottom tool bar (the translation is mine)
- If I close the "removed" file, I am prompted to save the file. The problem is that the path in which the file is saved is the last path I saved a file in, not the path of the current opened file (before it was "removed")
