Rival 500 Support

Open flozz opened this issue 4 years ago • 3 comments

The Rival 500 is partially supported. Missing features:

  • Button mapping
  • RGB Gradients / Color shift
  • Vibrations (tactile feedback)

If you own this mouse, please help :)

Button Mapping

The implementation of this feature is in progress but misses testers. A reverse engineering will maybe be required to complete the support.

  • Test branch: rivalcfg4.0-rival500-buttons
  • Current implementation based on: https://github.com/hungarian-notation/rivalcfg/blob/rival-500-research/doc/rival500-spec.md

RGB Gradients / Color shift

The implementation of this feature is in progress but misses testers. A reverse engineering will maybe be required to complete the support.

  • Test branch: rivalcfg4.0-rival500-colors
  • The current implementation suppose that it work liek the Rival 700 / 710. This must be confirmed, and more information can be found in #32

Vibrations (tactile feedback)

No work have been done yet on this feature. But @nixtux works ont it fo the Rival 700 / 710, maybe it work the same on the Rival 500.

Hi, I have Rival 500. I'm trying it right now. My comments so far:

  1. I miss button combination (LeftCtrl+Insert, LeftShfit+Insert) for copy and paste, which was working when i moved from Win with customized default setting. When I changed it to gaming setting and back to default with rivalcfg.
  2. After changing colour of logo and wheel, which first time worked sepparately, now I can't change the wheel colour and it changes only if I change the logo colour - the wheel changes to the same colour.
  3. Will be helpfull to have some setting "saves"/profiles in rivalcfg for quicker switching combination of settings (changing button mapping and logo+wheel colours.) Otherwise great work so far. I didn't hope for any support software for my mouse under linux.

Do you mean that button combinations like LeftCtrl+Insert were working on linux initially?

I've seen mention that the Rival 500 has on-board button combinations / macros but this might be the first confirmation here.

Yes, If I switch to profile with these "quick macros" like LeftCtrl+Insert on Windows with official SteelSeries soft and then connect the mouse to a linux PC these macros work until I change the button mapping with rivalcfg.
