Adjusting height of header section

After changing xml height attributes in the material_view_pager_layout file (e.g.. id/headerBackground) there is no effect to this. Would it be possible for someone to give reference to this issue in order to adjust the header height? I was unable to find reference to header heights in any of the java src files
