autoconfiscated build

Would there be any interest in switching the build system over to a standard autoconf setup? I might have time to work on this…

Oh, I didn't notice that there was a cmake build already. If that's still supported, that's good enough for me I think.

CMake build was for windows and it works in Unix too, but needs to be changed to add the SOVERSION.
