Custom software installer not catalogued by Fleet

Open mason-buettner opened this issue 1 month ago • 1 comments

Fleet version: 4.77

Web browser and operating system: Windows 11

💥  Actual behavior

customer-requeen reports that a custom installer they use for printing services is not being picked up reliably by Fleet's software inventory. When checking the package in Fleet, the msi is detected on the hosts but the version is not, leading to a different count (screenshot available in the link below).

The installer is distributed as an MSI by Fleet, and installed in C:\Program Files (x86). When running the query SELECT * FROM programs WHERE name LIKE '<installer name> the application is returned. The results of the query contain sensitive information, but can be accessed by Fleeties here along with the software page screenshot: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/13ULVyDqDqcZu__9zqe5Z83DbHc89Y0sw?usp=sharing

🧑‍💻  Steps to reproduce

These steps:

  • [ ] Have been confirmed to consistently lead to reproduction in multiple Fleet instances.
  • [x] Describe the workflow that led to the error, but have not yet been reproduced in multiple Fleet instances.
  1. Run the installer and customization options as a post-install script (which can be found in the Drive folder).

🕯️ More info (optional)

This has been observed on multiple installers for this program, one direct from the manufacturer and one with custom options written by redqueen. Both are captured in the attached query.
