Feature Request: Posts dated at publish date vs creation date

Open ynazar1 opened this issue 4 years ago • 1 comments

The blog posts are currently dated at the time of their creation or with the date plugin could be dated into the future. But it doesn't help with actual publish date when it comes to draft entries sitting for a while.

Example:

  1. I create a draft entry A, leave it as draft.
  2. Create a new entry B few days later, publish it.
  3. Finish editing and publish entry A.
  4. Entry A is now below entry B on the front page due to order by the creation date.

Request: Allow optional checkbox to update publish date to the current date when switching from draft to visible. Or automatically update publish date when switching from draft to published if feasible.

Side note: while typing this up I realized I could get similar results by creating a new entry and copy/pasting text to it, then deleting old draft, but that seems super lame.

I will look into this. Problem is, every entry is stored as file with its timestamp in the file name. So this would require some renaming and re-referencing.

This is indeed the way I work on my own blog. Quite effective, but I understand your criticism.
