Home page: de-prioritize "Popular"

Open bertob opened this issue 5 years ago • 3 comments

Currently the first and most prominent category on the home page is "Popular", which is not ideal because it's basically always the same, making it uninteresting for repeat visitors.

I'd do something like

  • Editor's Choice
  • New & Updated Apps
  • Popular Apps
  • Editor's Choice Games

If you change the order as stated in this issue (which I would like, too), you should also make it clear that the editor's choice changes monthly. I always had the impression that this list was set in stone and only found out by going through the commits here that you change it monthly.

Isn't that implied? I think editor's choice or similar curation systems on other app stores are always updated periodically, so I'm not sure it needs to be explained specifically.

I might be ignorant but I had no idea that they update periodically. How about this idea: even if I'm the only one who doesn't understand that they update periodically, other people still don't know in what period they update. So just calling the editor's choice picks "Editor's choice November", you indicate that it's periodically, and the period, and you only add a single word.
