Objective

Document and clarify Flatcar's commitment to vendor-neutral governance as required by CNCF Graduation criteria.

Background

CNCF Graduation requires that project governance clearly demonstrates vendor-neutrality in project direction. This is necessary to ensure that no single company or vendor can control the direction of the project.

• [ ] Reach out to CNCF (Service Desk or other channel) to clarify what they specifically mean by "vendor-neutral" in governance for Flatcar.
  • Is this about supporting multiple platforms/architectures in software?
  • Is this about public project metadata (see: https://tag-security.cncf.io/community/assessments/projects/flatcar/self-assessment/)?
• [ ] Add a note in flatcar/Flatcar governance.md explicitly stating the project's commitment to vendor neutrality, informed by CNCF guidance.
• [ ] Audit and update references to "by Kinvolk" in images, OS releases, and elsewhere to ensure vendor-neutral presentation (related: https://github.com/flatcar/Flatcar/issues/1483 ).
• [ ] Review and update governance documentation to ensure compliance.
