Screen shrinks when taking a screenshot
Flameshot Version
Flameshot v13.1.0 (79395fd3) Compiled with Qt 6.8.1
Installation Type
Using the ready-made package from Github Releases
Operating System type and version
Windows 11 Version: 10.0.26100 (winnt)
Description
When I take a screenshot with Flameshot, the entire screen shrinks (as if it gets scaled down), which did not happen in previous versions. This makes it harder to capture content precisely.
This issue started appearing only after updating to v13.1.0. In earlier versions (v12.1.0), taking a screenshot did not affect the screen scaling.
Steps to reproduce
Open Flameshot on Windows 11.
Press the shortcut to take a screenshot.
Observe how the entire screen shrinks temporarily when the screenshot tool appears.

@Carlos12001 How many monitors do you have? Try this fix (#4169) and see if it helps:

I only use the built-in laptop monitor (no external displays connected).
But I’ll test the build you shared and report back.
happened with X11 KDE too.
@kraken-afk are you sure that v13.1.0 (not v13.0.1) has this issue on x11?

I tested the build you shared, and it does fix the shrinking issue. However, now the screen loses quality, and the text looks slightly cut or blurred.
I also tested with version v12.1.0, and that version does not show any of these problems.

This is an image taken with version v12.1.0. As you can see, the screenshot has good quality and the text looks sharp, without the cut/blur issue.
@mmahmoudian absolutely, didn't happen in previous version.
the resolution is degraded as well following this bug.
Same issue here. Using Arch linux, with X and Awesome WM. Single monitor (though a dual-pane 5K monitor).
$ flameshot --version
Flameshot v13.1.0 ()
Compiled with Qt 6.9.1
Had a v12 in my cache, so I downgraded to that. That's working.
$ flameshot --version

I also had the same problem. I'm using Qt 8.0 for compilation.
Same issue here too. Arch linux with Xorg and i3wm, laptop monitor disabled and only one external monitor active. Flameshot v13.1.0 () Compiled with Qt 6.9.1
It happens to me too. I use wide monitor.
Same issue here. Windows 11 Pro version 26100.4946. Display 1920x1080, 125% scale. Flameshot 13.1.0, installed using winget. Previous version didn't have this problem.
If I set scale to 100% - works good, but in any other scale the problem shows up.
Same here.
Windows 11 Pro 25H2 OS build: 26200.5751 Experience: Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.26100.234.0
Display: 5120x2160, 125% scale Flameshot: v13.1.0 (79395fd3)
Also tried the fix here: https://github.com/flameshot-org/flameshot/issues/4172#issuecomment-3195084183
But I saw no difference at all, but going back to 13.0.1 fixes it.
Same issue as the first original post using the portable version. I'm now back to 13.0.1 and all good. Second Desktop is scaled at 150%

Also worked for me!
Same issue 125% UI scale
Flameshot v13.1.0 (79395fd3) Compiled with Qt 6.8.1 winnt: 10.0.19042 windows: 10
Same here on Windows 11 with AMD dGPU, or on Arch Linux (KDE Plasma) with AMD iGPU.
also happening on mint 22.1 cinnamon (x11) with a single screen at 200% scale
I'm having the same problem on my window 11 as well and with the current flameshot version 13.1.0. Also I tried to revert back to previous version 13.0.1 but it didn't fix the bug. Now I'm back using the 12.1.0.
CachyOS (arch based), single monitor 3840x2160, 125% scaling , KDE Plasma 6 on X11,two workspaces.
Same issues using 13.1.0-1.1, screen 'scales' when taking a screenshot, so you have to move the mouse, and also the created screenshot looks quite blocky, as if it's low resolution.. Compare (bad)..
with normal/good..
downgraded to 13.0.1-1.1 from pacman cache and all good again.
Came here to support the bug claim. This is my setup:
BTW, look at how resolution is degraded.
Both these monitors have a 125% Scale setting. I did see that the fix rolled out in v13.1 did remove DPI accountability. That would be my guess here.
My screenshots are reduced as described by others. If I were to guess, I'd say I lose 1/5 of the screen horizontally, and 1/4 vertically, as in one fifth is all black horizontally, and 1 fourth is black vertically.
Had the same issue. Roll back to version 13.0.0, and it was fixed.
Can confirm on 13.1.0 ArchLinux, DWM Single monitor, 1920x1080 120% scaling
Can confirm as well, same behavior as shown in all the posts above:
Flameshot v13.1.0 (downgrade to 13.0.1 did fix the issue) Archlinux, Awesome WM (window manager) Single Monitor, 3440x1440
I guess no more "confirmations" are needed. 😅
For Linux users, besides downgrading, this might also help: https://github.com/flameshot-org/flameshot/issues/4171#issuecomment-3207409066
13.1.0 did not fix the previous issue. Each color is a screen.

This section is when I revert back to 1.13.0 (which others say are fixed but it also had this issue)

This works on my Arch with i3wm
