It would be awesome if you could add a feature that would open a new tab on chrome for any url clicked on the IRC client.

This should work. It works for me. One caveat is that I believe it uses the default browser (which may not be chrome). What's your OS and Chrome and is it the default browser?

Wow, I'm sorry I didn't get back to you!

Actually it could be any browser. Just should target a blank page, the browser will decide to open it on a new tab or window :+1:
