Android 13: randomly skips to the end of files

After upgrading my Pixel 4a to Android 13, Audio Anchor started to skip to the end of files and mark them completed seeming at random during playback. I do not believe the files are corrupted because I can manually navigate back to the point of the skip and it will play normally. I think it probably isn't related, but I will add that the volume buttons on my phone broke around the same time.

For me, sometimes, when I restart the phone, progress is lost.

For me the issue only occurs with long files (eg 12 hours) , when the audio book is separated into chapters of say an hour each, it no longer occurs.
