When I ran xmr-stak the day before it worked great but today it gives me this error "CONNECT error: A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond." I am not sure how to go about fixing it as I have tried using a vpn and disabling antivirus temporarily

I have the same problem. I am using f2pool and a Linux system.

it is suddenly working correctly today and I'm not sure why

In the meantime it worked and now doesn't again. I am pretty sure that for my case the server is the problem, not the miner.

yeah it could be on f2pools end as it will work and then stop working suddenly with the same error
