unable to query number of CUDA devices

Im using unbuntu and when I installed this program a month ago I installed the latest cuda package. I was mining fine yesterday, but now when I try to start the program I get the following error:

Unable to query number of CUDA devices! [2017-10-26 06:41:45] : Setup failed for GPU 0. Exitting.
