jira.py (xml request) not working

the functionality in jira.py doesn't seem to work. I get a correct number of results but no fields.

OP reports that error is not reproducible in the production environment, but is still reproducible in the integration environment, so we're not entirely sure what's going on yet. I've been unable to reproduce.
