It does appear they are trying to detect extension users. That being said, the check must be enforced client-side, and is therefore susceptible to tampering with an extension (ironically).

I'm getting this too. And it really sounds fishy that the site wants people to "drop their defenses" and disable all browser extensions before allowing access. What is it trying to do that it needs naked browsers?!
