Support play-services-auth library (v21.0.0)

  • Android device: Pixel 6 Pro
  • Android OS version: Android 14
  • Google Play Services version: 21.1.0
  • Firebase/Play Services SDK version: 21.1.1
  • FirebaseUI version: 8.0.2

Step 3: Describe the problem:

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Update the play-services-auth version on an app using Firebase UI
  2. Run the app, it crashes due to the breaking changes added on the play-services-auth 21.1.0 version: https://developers.google.com/android/guides/releases#february_15_2024

Observed Results:

  • What happened? This could be a description, logcat output, etc. Crashes with this exception:

Expected Results:

In the end, I've rewritten app auth flow from the scratch without Firebase UI

Hi all, Sorry for the long delay on this one! We finally released version 9.0.0 of the FirebaseUI library which fixes this issue. :)

I will close this issue for now, but please leave a comment or re-open if you're still facing this.
