When I am trying to sign in to a non-gsm device it is working fine in debug mode with firebase auth UI version 7.1.1, but it is not working on release mode with the same version.

It is throwing below error message <ns1:g id="app_name">%1$s</ns1:g> won't run without Google Play services, which are not supported by your device.

@samtstern Environment Detail is

  • Android device: https://www.pax.com.cn/androidsmartpos/A920
  • Android OS version: 5.1.1
  • Google Play Services version: Its a Non-Gsm Device(Google play Service not Exist)
  • FirebaseUI version: 7.1.1
  • Bom: 'com.google.firebase:firebase-bom:26.0.0'

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Generate Signed bundle/apk
  2. Select Apk
  3. Select variant - release
  4. After that install that .apk in a device and when the app launch it displays the message.
