Interesting, thanks for following up! It sounds like there's nothing directly for us (SPI) to do here for the time being, or is there? Can I close the issue?
We do indeed set two variables to `1` when building and generating docs: - `SPI_BUILD` - `SPI_GENERATE_DOCS`
I'd like to avoid extending the SPI manifest and the builder unless we absolutely have to. Since there's a possible upstream fix it would be better to solve the issue...

I've stopped using home bridge because it wasn't reliable for me but I might try again in the future.
