Extension and Native App are once again not the same version

Open winteriscariot opened this issue 1 year ago • 5 comments

Same issue as #620

It seems that shortly after the 2.13.2 extension update was approved for AMO, the native client extension in the Arch Linux repos was updated to 2.13.3, once again creating a mismatch between extension and native version.

Is it possible to not release the updated native client until the AMO release has been approved by Mozilla so as to avoid this disconnect? It seems like the release to Arch repos is much faster than Mozilla's AMO approval process.

Same issue on W11 and using Winget. Winget upgrades it to 2.13.3, then complains the extension is on 2.13.2 Go to check for extension updates in Firefox, and there are none.

I will improve the update checking in the extension in the future to only display the outdated message when the new version is already available on AMO.

the version mismatch should not effect your ability to use firefoxpwa, you'll just get that annoying message in the extension pop up.

Because the native program and the extension are distributed through different methods (and the native program itself is distributed on multiple package repositories), there may always be a slight delay between each of them is published. So, this issue can't really be "fixed".
