Discrepancy between file shown by win explorer and Files

Description

While using Files to browse through folders on my phone i noticed that i could only see the folders or zipped files. Images and videos had disappeared.

But if i use win explorer i can clearly see the folders, pictures and videos, so the cable is not the issue. Also if i search for a video or image that i know is there nothing comes up.

Actually as i finished writting this, tried copying a couple images onto my phone using Files, it failed. Apparently it is failing to make any changes on my phone. Maybe a permission i did not give to files i really dont know, but i did give it the permission for file access

Steps To Reproduce

Go to files Click on poco f3 Internal storage Try to delete or paste anything onto the phone

Expected behavior

I expected to see all my images and videos like i do with win file explorer. Also to be able to modify the files on the phone, that fails using Files.

Can't repro but seem to happen for some people.

@Laniz is this an issue on a regular install of Windows without any patches to File Explorer?

@yaichenbaum Yeah its a regular install, no mods or patches, nothing was done to the Windows File Explorer.

What's with the screenshot of File Explorer? It doesn't look stock to me 🤔

Its a 3rd party windows theme and icons too, but explorer still stock.

@Laniz can you reproduce this issue on a fresh install of Windows? I'm wondering if the theme is messing with file permissions.

Uhm installing windows right now would be extremely inconvenient, my drives are pretty much full and i don't have anywhere to off load that data.

What i can do is, uninstall my theme, reinstall files, then report back. I can only do this on the weekend unfortunately.

@yaichenbaum Ive done what i suggested above, still getting the same problem. Fails to make any changes to the phone storage.

I might be able to do a fresh install in the near future if this is not resolved.
