DLNA network drive support

Open VasilisThePikachu opened this issue 3 years ago • 5 comments

What's the Problem?

DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) currently does not work While the server appears on the network tab it won't open no matter how much you click

The way dlna works on explorer right now are that once you open a file it temporarily copies it to your system and then plays it with the default player. I'm not sure if it's possible to stream that data or if the files app should implement support to ask media players to stream directly instead

Steps to reproduce

Requirements

Allow entering to DLNA server directory and going though directories Show thumbnails for directories that have it Appear in home tab as normal explorer does or have an option to make it show up there Allow making shortcuts to desktop

Files Version

Version: 2.1.13.0 OS Version: 10.0.19044.1526

Windows Version

Windows 10 Pro Version 21H2 19044.1526

Is this still an issue in 2.3.3.0?

Double clicking on DLNA drives now brings up windows media player. At least with Plex Media Server nothing shows up in there
