Feature: Add "Close All Tabs" button to tab actions menu
What feature or improvement do you think would benefit Files?
There's an option to close all open tabs in a tab context menu:
However, this button isn't available in the tab actions menu, where I might expect it to also appear. It's a minor issue but was just something I noticed while using the app.

If you don't understand what I mean, I'm saying that it would be useful to have a button to close all the tabs in the Tab Actions Menu (see picture). I'm sure it'd be simple 😅
This isn't a duplicate functionality so much as it is where I would expect it to be. It's the tab actions menu; surely it would be sensible to include a "close all tabs" button? Perhaps it's worth mentioning in a poll.
The tab actions menu is really meant for #11900, which hasn't been implemented yet. In the meantime, we've added a few items to this menu, but we need to leave room for when #11900 is ready. I initially thought you were asking to add 'Close other tabs,' but looking at the title it seems you actually meant a 'Close all tabs' option. Could you please clarify?
Well, there are a few options:
- close all tabs button (different from closing the app as this removes the tab history the app opens from)
- close other tabs (all except the one that the user is in)
This issue is badly titled, what I originally meant was to add a close other tabs button to the tab actions menu.
My main problem originally is that I expected the close other tabs button to be in the tab actions menu since that is the dedicated menu for tab actions; if Files didn't have a dedicated tab actions menu I would have assumed that the button would be where it currently is, in the context menu of any tab.

That's a use case I hadn't considered (probably not a common one since it's never been requested) and it wouldn't hurt to create an action for this. However, I'm not sure we want to take up space in the flyout as the real intention is for #11900.

I admit calling the button "Tab actions" is a bit confusing because it's not really related to tabs, but in any event, I think this concern will be resolved when we implement #11900.
We don't have plans to add the requested option to the menu flyout, but I'm open to adding an action to "Close all tabs" if there is interest from users.
