Feature: Show status when installing fonts

Open D-Maxwell opened this issue 1 year ago • 2 comments

What feature or improvement do you think would benefit Files?

Upon installing a large amount of fonts through the Files app, it has struck me that there was no visual (in app) way to know whether the installation had finalised already or not. I believe that the status centre would be the perfect location for such an indication.

Requirements

If fonts were to be installed through a loop in a single file as suggested in #14503, this would potentially make it much easier to track the progress of a file installing operation.

Files Version

3.1.1.0

Windows Version

10.0.19045.2788

Comments

The only somewhat reliable way one currently has to track such an operation (albeit a quick one with few files) is to look for high CPU utilisation in the Windows Task Manager. I think we can all agree, that from a UX standpoint, having to resort to such a workaround sucks.

Thanks for the feedback, I've added this to the project board.

Thank you for your feedback. The status center is really meant for file operations and I'm not sure that installing a font should be considered a file operation (although behind the scenes the font file does get copied), that said, we can wait and see if there is other feedback before deciding.
