Strip filetype from uploads

Purpose

Slate currently assigns the file name to the upload which is all well and good but having the file type included in the name is somewhat redundant as it is displayed nicely directly below?

Deliverable

If a period is present at the end of the filename strip it and every character after? This should save users some time renaming things :)
