Green Grants RFP: Arkreen Renewable Energy Network
RFP: Arkreen Network
Name of Project:Arkreen Network
RFP Category: app-dev
Proposer: LaserDing
Project Description
Arkreen Network is an infrastructure for distributed renewable energy connection and monetization by token incentive to coordinate mass scale human beings. With our network, renewable energy will be boosted and longtail renewable asset owners will be rewarded. Initially, we will deploy our IoT devices, with blockchain module inside, to network builders to bootstrap renewable assets. Further, leveraging our partnership with renewable equipment manufacturers, we are integrating our IoT module into all types of renewable devices, from solar PV to battery.
Carbon neutrality is the few consensus among the spliting world. The majority GHG emission actually comes from energy sector. Besides corporations' carbon emission deduction and mitigation efforts, which requires specific industrial know-how, carbon offset is a universal and main effort for all individuals and institutions.
Offset is an industry exists for dozens of years, while the centralized legacy registries somehow hurdle the organic growth of market. We have real demand from all sizes institutions and individuals, while the supply side is restricted by untrustworthy, inefficiency, illiquidity. The offset industry is a 13B market with over 25% annual growth rate. Without digitalization, it can't meet the demand for carbon neutral.
If we zoom in a bit, the tradable offset product is Renewable Energy Certificate(REC). Different from Carbon Credits, which is composed of multiple assets sources, REC is standard and suitable for further financialization(both ReFi and TradFi liquidity). While the current source of REC comes from large-scale solar farms, distributed ones cannot be registered in REC registry due to cost-efficiency. But the fact is distributed solar PV capacity is the dominant share of solar power installed. Longtail assets can't be connected and validated(monetized).
To onboard these multi million renewable solar PV panels, we will offer embedded logger and integrated PV inverter(blockchain module inside) to connect rooftop solar PV panels and generate trustless REC. The "trustless" IoT blockchain module is the digital MRV for crypto+climate marginal innovation and is easy scalable to the whole world. This is more like an infra for renewable energy devices, and could generate standard liquidity in supply side which will also attract capital liquidity in demand side.

Value
Arkreen will store IoT data by million devices on filecoin to assure its authentication and traceability. Also, we will integrate with Chainlink for off-chain oracle. This is a network for carbon neutrality, and will generate Renewable Energy Certificate for offsetting of carbon emissions. We can have close cooperation with Filegreen.
Deliverables
- IoT logger MVP
- Renewable energy devices monitoring platform
- Filecoin integration for IoT data storage
- Trustless REC for Filegreen carbon neutral.
Recommended Team
- Experience in IoT module and IoT platform
- Experience in energy power grid and renewable energy industry
- Carbon offset and REC experience
- Green financial or ReFi experience

Hi @LaserDing, thank you for your proposal! Do you have projects links available to represent your work? We would also like to learn more about your team's expertise and previous contributions. Is this information you can share?
Hi Jim! Sorry for the long response time. This project looks really interesting. We definitely need RECs with detailed production data like you are proposing! Here are my questions:
- Can you tell me more about the prototype you are building? Who owns the building, where is it, and does it already have solar? If not, what is the installation timeline and how is that being financed?
- What countries are you targeting in your go to market strategy? Are they homes or businesses?
- What registries (like I-REC) will the RECs be registered in? Has anyone at those registries given you feedback about your plan?
- You mention ChainLink. Awesome! How are you using them?
- It's great that you are planning to store the data on Filecoin! Can you tell us more about the software architecture you are planning to build? (ie are you going to use Estuary, Ceramic datastreams, IPNS, or something else?)
- Are you going to Fil-Singapore this month? @orinayodele and @mjohnson518 from our team will be there, you should meet them!
- Can I get LinkedIn profile links for your team members?
Happy to talk about it, here is my calendar: https://calendly.com/ransil You can also suggest a time if there isn't a good slot
Hi Jim,
- Alan will get back to you shortly on meeting dates that work.
- Marc and I would love to attend your event on Sept. 26. Could you please send us more details?
- We will look at your pitchbook and get back to you with any further information.
Best, Orin
Hi @LaserDing! Not sure if you saw Alan's questions above, but it would be great for us to hear your thoughts on them
Hi Orin, I actually replied before but deleted for confidential info concern. Here I rewrite again without sensitives as below. ------------------Hi Alan, glad to have your reply.I will reply your questions first.:)Can you tell me more about the prototype you are building? Who owns the building, where is it, and does it already have solar? If not, what is the installation timeline and how is that being financed? We are rolling out an IoT Based dMRV gadget, which can be regarded as our network miner, for recording solar panel power generation data trustworthily. Our miner is adaptable for mainstream solar inverters, cuz the majority of inverter manufacturers are familiar industry connections with us. Our miner will be designed/made by us at early stage, while we will opensource this hardware to community later. And we will serve longtail distributed solar panels owners to monetize their equipment data and capacity, so it's not centralized solar farm. What countries are you targeting in your go to market strategy? Are they homes or businesses? We target at regions frontrun in distributed solar panels, so basically the U.S., E.U., Australia. Mainly residential, maybe some SME.What registries (like I-REC) will the RECs be registered in? Has anyone at those registries given you feedback about your plan?Legacy carbon credit and REC registries are similar. They all need more digitalization in MRV to boost more trustworthy assets. And Web3 offers a solution for them. Personally, I believe Web3 should unite to initiate movement for a more trustworthy and cost-efficient MRV. While in short term, we will cooperate with legacy registries for web3 powered public goods. We are in cooperation with one I-REC/APX certifier who will issue REC based on our trustworthy renewable energy data. You mention ChainLink. Awesome! How are you using them?As you can see, we are an Physical+Crypto project. So actually, the project itself functions as an oracle to bridge data from physical world to cyber world, just like Helium HIP-70 positions itself as an oracle on Solana. In the future, as our network grows to be a global Web3 Energy Infra, ChainLink is one indispensable part. It's great that you are planning to store the data on Filecoin! Can you tell us more about the software architecture you are planning to build? (ie are you going to use Estuary, Ceramic datastreams, IPNS, or something else?)Sorry this is not my knowledge field, I will invite our tech lead to explain online. Can I get LinkedIn profile links for your team members?Actually we are friends on LinkedIn, you can search LaserDing. Amazing to find that you worked in A123 in 2010, as you know A123 was acquired by WANXIANG. I worked in Wanxiang and this arkreen project is also strategically backed by Wanxiang. Second part:1) I think we can have a meeting next week in your convenience. We are in Singapore time zone. 2) We launched our project on 26th Sep. in Wanxiang Singapore space. 3) We are in our seed fund raising phase and are discussing with several Web3 L1s for investment and future offsetting. Do you think filecoin has strategic sustainable interest in our project direction?I know you guys are very busy these months for several events around the globe. Take it easy, we can find a relax time for a union chat.
