Choice of license -- GNU ?

Is there a reason of why the license to this product is GNU instead of MIT or Apache ?

ShiftIt originated from a GPL licensed project of the same name. Today, there is nothing from the original code left so I guess the license could be changed. Any particular reason why you would like it to be MIT or Apache?

A lot of companies may be against employees using software with GNU License as the license forces the users to open source their code. MIT or Apache gives us this flexibility to use ShiftIt without companies preventing us.
