[Bug - SDK2013 SP 8869] Random crashes with "out of memory"

Open megakarlach opened this issue 1 year ago • 2 comments

Hammer++ randomly crashed for some reason after baking lightmaps multiple times and/or making changes to the map by modifying some entities and brushes. As soon I click "Full Bake" again, sometime it crashes with out of memory (even through my system have 32GB RAM and the 32-bit Hammer++ SDK13 SP using only 300-400MB yet barely reaches over the 2GB/4GB 32-bit RAM limit, also it's not CPU related because I have Intel 12th gen which are not affected).

Edit: rn this issues is so annoying that i'm doing a workaround by using Hammer++ (TF2 branch, 64-bit), get it to load HL2 assets along with old shaders VPK, and so far this issues isnt present with Hammer++ 8869 (TF2) version.

Also happened to me aswell, I also got 32GB of Ram. It might be related to the light preview though, because it only happens when I try to use the lighting preview

yea, also H++ can crashes with different error, related to models (which displayed as "") being corrupt for no reasons even tho nothing has changed, then crashes with materialsystem.dll occasionally when i boot HL2. image
