Feature request: terrain map and airspace handling
Hi! I know this would be a long term feature plan. But it would be really nice if SkyDrop could handle terrain (topography) maps and airspace files (like OpenAir (.txt)). These two would allow:
- Precise auto calibration of altitudes at start, based on topography maps and GPS (really convenient way)
- Airspace warnings and widgets (approaching horizontally and vertically, max altitude, alt. left etc.)
- Navigation, tasks and way-points (calculating with topography, airspace and flying attributes like current altitude)
- ...
(These two features could be separated into two stages and I guess airspace handling would be the smaller to implement.)
What do you think? :)
- Precise auto calibration of altitudes at start, based on topography maps and GPS (really convenient way) can be done and it is on the list
- Airspace warnings and widgets (approaching horizontally and vertically, max altitude, alt. left etc.) we will see if the device can handle this
- Navigation, tasks and way-points (calculating with topography, airspace and flying attributes like current altitude) can be done and it is on the list
•Precise auto calibration of altitudes at start, based on topography maps and GPS (really convenient way) can be done and it is on the list Actually using a map is not an accurate way unless you are tow launching from a flat field! on a steep slope the map altitude is not accurate - better to use GPS altitude.
ok noted.
