[R262] Compass rotating in wrong direction
I noticed the compass only works as expected when the strato is sitting facing up, but the behavior seems wrong with other orientations.
When the display is facing down, the compass arrow actually rotates exactly in the opposite direction of what one would expect it to turn. So, e.g., starting N with display facing down, the arrow points N, as expected. Rotating 90° E makes it such the arrow points directly W.
When the strato is facing straight up, with usb ports towards the ground, the arrow (or any other compass representation) points E if slightly tilted towards the "display up" direction, and flips by 180° pointing W when slightly tilting towards the "display down" direction.
Has any progress been made in this respect? the compass is basically unusable in any orientation except when perfectly horizontal, with display pointing up. The behavior is maximally wrong with display pointing down, but other orientations are also pretty bad. Actually, even in the best case, with display pointing straight up, it seems like only the gyros are compensating for the bad compass behavior.
Is this only a problem with my unit? Can anyone else confirm this? Procedure to reproduce:
- calibrate compass
- point strato towards ceiling (display down)
- rotate and watch compass arrow point in funny directions
On my Strato the compas is also pointing in the wrong direction even when its facing up. I think my magnetometer is broken. In direct comparison with the SkyDrop, the SkyDrop shows the correct direction, even on 90° angle. (If the SkyDrop is facing down, it also shows the wrong direction though.)
