Guitar Pro 6 can't open generated .gpx?

This happens with every generated file I've tried "Error loading C:////Filename.gpx

Strange, works for me. But the gpx format is a bit finicky. Try gp5, that should be working more reliably.

It's because the RSE Sound Configuration is missing, I will have a look

Interestingly I was able to open the gpx files in GP6 and they worked, though the layout of the sheet was a bit crammed (i.e. you were not able to read the fret number beside a chord on the sheet). But opening them in GP7 and playing them does not generate any sound. Trying to open gpx generated files on an Android via GP will result in an error that the file cannot be read.

You always had to open and save the gpx in GP6 for them to work in the android app. Afaik GP6 corrects some missing or incorrect things in the generated gpx files. Sadly, GP7 does not do this anymore. If you open a gpx in GP7 and export it (you can't save as gpx) it will not open in the android app. And the android app does not open gp (the new GP7 format) yet. But so far every song from the release of RS1 to the DLC from RS2014 until March 2017 could be exported to tab for me and i never had problems opening them in the mobile app.

To be honest, now that gp5 support in RocksmithToTab has been stable for a long while, I'm considering dropping support for gpx altogether (assuming I ever do another release). There's just no advantage to converting in gpx. The gp5 files are equivalent in every way and can be opened reliably with any program version starting from Guitar Pro 5, so it's just not worth it to maintain the gpx exporter, in my opinion :)

If you open a gpx in GP7 and export it (you can't save as gpx) it will not open in the android app.

You should report that to Arobas, this is obviously a bug (GP7 should properly save the file in GPX format, the source doesn't matter)
